Born and raised in California, Tate Swindell is a poet, archivist, photographer and record producer. His San Francisco-based label, Unrequited Records, has released recordings by Beat Generation icons Herbert Huncke, Harold Norse and Jack Micheline, as well as by underground folk legend David Dondero. He has recorded and interviewed literary giants such as Amiri Baraka, Diane di Prima, Andrei Codrescu and Ruth Weiss.

Tate has traveled the globe, producing and participating in poetry-related events at locations such as The Nuyorican Poets Café in Manhattan, Beyond Baroque in Venice, California, and locally at City Lights Books, the Beat Museum, and Beckett Books & Records, which he rates as the best bookstore in the city for poetry and jazz. He is currently editing a collected book of poems by one of the greatest poets, Bob Kaufman, and as part of his research on this book he became the first person to gain access to the Bob Kaufman archives at the Sorbonne University in Paris.

Tate’s own collections of writings and photos include the titles "Palpitations", "The Creation of Deadlines", and the latest, "Ghost Eclipse" due out on Two-Way Mirror Press later this year.
