voted 'Best Documentary Film' for 2005
by the Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Series.

This KCSM Original Production follows the adventure of Zemad, a girl from a small village in Ethiopia. Trapped by the injustice of cultural traditions in Africa and her father's desire to sell her hand in marriage, she escapes to the city in search of a new beginning.

City life is prosperous at first, but she soon discovers she has contracted HIV. Filmed on location in Ethiopia over two years, it is a bittersweet story about the cycle of AIDS in Africa.
