What are Spotlight! The Series and Youth Cinema?
KCSM Public Television currently broadcasts two Spotlight! series, in addition to our annual festival.
Spotlight! The Series
Making its debut in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2008, "Spotlight!" is a ground-breaking new television series designed to acknowledge and applaud the efforts of talented high school producers, directors, editors and writers. Aspiring young movie-makers will be interviewed and encouraged to continue their studies in college.
Each locally-produced episode of "Spotlight!" will showcase the work of two local students, whose movies will be broadcast throughout the Bay Area. Additionally, each program will include an in-depth interview of a film or television guest expert, an industry professional who will provide insights and support by encouraging persistence, commitment and education. Youth Cinema
Youth Cinema is a television series created by the compilation of Spotlight! Festival entries. Introduced by host Angie Coiro, each episode showcases the work of several Bay Area high school filmmakers. These young directors and producers can now invite their friends, families and fans to join them in watching their movies on the air! Check the schedule >
