Vibraphonist Milt Jackson As the long-time vibraphonist and principle soloist for the Modern Jazz Quartet, Milt Jackson was the man who put the blue into the MJQ. In addition to his storied MJQ membership and alternate career as a bandleader and soloist, Jackson was the springboard from whence all modern jazz vibists originate. As a composer, Jackson has added significantly to the standard repertoire of jazz, including such classics as "Bags Groove," "Bluesology," and "The Cylinder."
