Drummer-composer Allison Miller began playing drums at age 10, and soon afterwards began studying with Walter Salb, a top teacher in the Washington, DC, area. While still in her teens, in 1991, she was featured in "Down Beat" magazine's "Up-and-Coming" spotlight.

Allison received her BA in Music Performance at West Virginia University in 1996, and moved to New York City, where today she has a far-reaching orbit of playing companions, among them Ani DiFranco, Natalie Merchant, Norah Jones, Brandi Carlile, Doctor Lonnie Smith, Marty Ehrlich, Ingrid Jensen, and Kenny Barron.

Allison's drumming and composing have been featured on the Showtime series "The L Word". She has several recordings as a leader, most recently "Otis Was a Polar Bear" with her Boom Tic Boom band.

And this very month Allison is in "Down Beat" again, but this time as a full-blown star.
