Namita Kapoor (2014)

Visit Website

Namita Kapoor is a stunningly creative artist in several disciplines. She's a performer, choreographer, and visual and graphic artist.

From Bollywood to jazz, tap, vocal and body percussion, Namita's varied dance disciplines have opened doors to the first US national tour of "Bombay Dreams", to Bollywood's "So You Think You Can Dance", to "Just Dance" with Jessica Alba, to the Jazz Tap Ensemble, all the way to NYC's Lincoln Center.

Namita has taught workshops and given performances in India, Brazil, Iceland, Italy, Japan and Turkey. She currently performs with Keith Terry's all-body band Slammin', and is on the faculty at ODC and Rhythm in/and motion. She manages to work in her visual art as well.

Looking back to the father of theatrical jazz dance, Jack Cole, Namita's work "Hindu Swing" is described by the San Francisco Examiner as "a kind of visual poetry slam with merging contemporary and ancient themes".
