Multi-reed player and educator Patrick Wolff was born in upstate New York. Nobody's perfect, and he showed that his head wasn't full of just music by relocating to the Bay Area some years ago.

At New York University, Patrick studied with Ralph Lalama, George Garzone, Frank Foster and Frank Kimbrough. In the jazz world, he's toured with the Glenn Miller orchestra, and worked with Matt Wilson, Josh Roseman, Marcus Shelby, Joe Lovano, Tootie Heath, and George Cables, among others.

In New York City, Patrick led his own trio with bassist Chris Van Voorst Van Beest and drummer Yujiro Nakamura. Here in the Bay Area, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who hasn't worked with him, and his work as a sideman beyond jazz is equally exciting: punk band/comic troupe The Loose Nuts, Afro-beat/highlife juggernaut Asiko, avant-garde rock group Kayo Dot, and Nigerian reggae star Majek Fashek.

As regards his own compositions, Patrick's tastes go far: he likes Andrew Hill, Ornette Coleman, and Booker Little. But he never strays too far from the warm, melodic sound he has on saxophone.
