Glenn Richman (2014)

Visit Website

Philadelphia-born Glenn Richman is a seasoned and versatile bassist who has been resident in the Bay Area for a dozen years or more.

Educated at the Mannes School of Music in New York City and at Berklee in Boston, Glenn studied with bassists Buster Williams and George Mraz, and with pianist Mike Longo, and has played with Jon Hendricks, Dave Liebman, Chet Baker, George Coleman, Billy Hart and Mickey Roker, among many others.

For some years now, Glenn has been an integral part of the quartet of NEA Jazz Master Bobby Hutcherson. Glenn does a lot of education, too, and his students—be they at UC Berkeley, Chabot College, the Brubeck Institute or the California Conservatory of Music—rate him an excellent teacher, and now put his name at the top of their "Who did you study with?" list.
