    David Rogers (2017)

    Visit Website

Guitarist and composer David Rogers has been called many things, all of them good. ("Almost all!", he interjects.) For example, The Washington Post called him an "astonishingly florid" improviser; and 20th Century Guitar called him a "modern master".

David fuses elements of classical music, jazz, early music—he plays a mean lute—and world music into his moving performances. His music has been featured in guitar publications and on NPR, and he gives master classes throughout North America. He's also something of a guitar geek, having studied historical plucked strings in Basel, Switzerland, and at Indiana University.

David has a remarkable grasp of a wide spectrum of music, from 16th century baroque guitar music to Leonard Cohen songs and beyond. For 18 years, he was a musician with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (where he was once termed "the mad dog of the archlute"). He also taught at Southern Oregon University for over a dozen years.

When Paul McCandless says of you, as he did of David, "He plays incredibly well", then you can write your own ticket.
