|Diane Witherspoon (2013)|
|Originally from Minneapolis, MN, vocalist Diane Witherspoon now makes her home in Las Vegas. In Minnesota, she attended St Olaf College, where she played one of the nuns in a performance of "The Sound of Music".
One of eight siblings, Diane had grown up singing. She had two famous family influences: one was older sister Shirley, who sang for some time with Duke Ellington's Orchestra, and with whom Diane and her twin brother sang back-up; the other was her father's cousin Jimmy, the famous blues balladeer.
Diane has several excellent recordings to her name. Of particular note is her "You May Never Know", with accompaniment from Cedar Walton and Billy Higgins on versions of tunes by Cedar with lyrics added by John and Paula Hackett.
A warm, dynamic, and very grounded performer, Diane now travels the world, singing and teaching.
