|---|---|
| Singer and actress Veronica Klaus has been performing here in the Bay Area for over two decades. Following a two-year run at Enrico's in North Beach, she now appears regularly at the Rrazz Room, performing acclaimed shows such as "Something Cool", "After Dark", "Lady Luck", and "The Peggy Lee Songbook". Before that, she and co-writer and -director Jeffrey Hartgreaves created the wonderful one-woman show "Family Jewels" that ran at Theatre Rhinoceros some years ago.
Born in Gillespie, Ohio, Veronica is the youngest of five children, and earned a degree in music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She has always sought out the great singers—Etta James, Etta Jones, Aretha Franklin, Jimmy Scott, Billie Holiday, and Dinah Washington, among others. Veronica's debut recording from 1997 "All I Want" received a New York City GLAMA award nomination for Female Artist of the Year, and she's an SF Guardian Best Chanteuse winner. After an interval of seven years, she's just released her third recording, "Something Cool". |
