| After graduating from the San Francisco Conservatory, drummer and percussionist Jim Zimmerman spent years constantly playing jazz, doing recording sessions and show work. He joined the staff at the Circle Star Theater, where he performed with everyone from Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett to The Temptations, The Spinners and The Jackson Five. Thereafter, he was with the Vince Guaraldi Trio, with whom he recorded some of the "Charlie Brown" specials.
In 1982, Jim joined Cleo Laine, touring regularly and appearing the following year on "Cleo at Carnegie Hall", in recognition for which concert she was awarded a Grammy. Beginning in the early '90s, he toured for over a decade with Diane Schuur. Jim has performed and recorded with, among others, Toots Thielemans, Art Pepper, Blue Mitchell, Joe Williams, Gerry Mulligan. He is the author of not only the course “Sight Reading Rhythm” but of numerous jazz compositons. |
