    Visit Website

Antonio Sanchez was born in Mexico City in 1971. He began playing drums at the age of five, playing professionally from his early teens. After studying classical piano at the National Conservatory in Mexico, he enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Jazz Studies.

Since his almost inevitable move to New York City, he’s been performing and recording with the likes of Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Chris Potter, David Sanchez and Scott Colley (all of whom appear on Antonio’s first recording as a leader, "Migration"), as well as Chick Corea, Charlie Haden, and Gary Burton: the list goes on.

Together with Christian McBride, he is a member of Pat Metheny’s trio, with which Antonio has won two Grammy Awards, and which has been nominated for their most recent recording, “Road Trip”.
