|Jeff Cressman (2008)|
|San Francisco native Jeff Cressman is a double threat: an in-demand trombonist and an established recording engineer.
He began trombone in the same Berkeley Public School Jazz Project that fostered the talents of his contemporaries Peter Apfelbaum, Benny Green and Joshua Redman, all perhaps better known but none more traveled. Jeff has toured the world with such artists as Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, Pete Escovedo, Trey Anastasio and, since 2000, Carlos Santana.
Behind the microphone, Jeff has recorded and mixed CDs for Peter Apfelbaum (his old classmate) & the NY Hieroglyphics, and the SFJAZZ Collective (featuring Berkeley colleague Joshua Redman). Other credits include Boz Scaggs, John Santos's Machete Ensemble, Jeff's fellow trombonist Wayne Wallace, Mark Levine and Omar Sosa.
Jeff is staff engineer for the San Francisco Jazz Festival, and has also recorded several live location broadcasts for PRI's "Live at the Riverwalk" with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band. ("Riverwalk" is broadcast on KCSM-FM every Sunday at 6pm.)
