| Alex de Grassi (2007) | |
|---|---|
| Although he comes from a musical family (growing up right here on the San Francisco peninsula), Alex de Grassi is primarily self-taught on his chosen instrument, the guitar: at age 13, he appropriated his elder brother's instrument in preference to his own assigned trumpet.
He's honed his finger style for over 30 years, beginning with his first release on Windham Hill, (the quintessential California "New Age" label), entitled "Turning: Turning Back". His 1998 recording "The Water Garden" was nominated for a Grammy. Alex's current project is DeManIa, a trio with electric bassist Michael Manring and percussionist Christopher Garcia. |
