| Tierney Sutton (2007) | |
|---|---|
| Mid-West-born and -bred, vocalist Tierney Sutton studied at Boston's Berklee College of Music and was a semi-finalist in the 1998 Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocal Competition. Now long resident in Los Angeles, Tierney was nominated for a Grammy for her recording "I'm with the Band". The title of that recording says a lot about Tierney's attitude to music: she isn't the chanteuse accompanied by a group of back-up musicians; she's with the band, she's part of the band. In fact, her piano trio has been with her for 15 years, and, as Tierney puts it, "if any one of us can't make the gig, we don't make the gig."
