Denise Perrier at San Jose Jazz Summer Fest

Ron Lee | July 20th, 2014

Expertly in control of a rich contralto voice that allows her the ability to sing ballads and blues with equal artistry, vocalist Denise Perrier has a very welcoming straight-ahead style that concentrates on jazz standards yet can adds blues and Latin for variety.

For this performance, Perrier will be joined by tenor saxophonist Houston Person, with whom she made the gorgeous recording The Second Time Around. Person has recorded more than 75 albums as bandleader, and has recorded with Lena Horne, Lou Rawls and Horace Silver. He is perhaps best known as the longtime musical collaborator with the late Etta Jones.

Listen to her sing I Love You Porgy with the Novoslbirsk Philharmonic Orchestera. Here latest CD is a live performance with this group.
