Azar originally was a classical pianist and violinist but turned to tenor saxaphone when he was twelve. He is also an accomplished songwriter who has written for Earth, Wind and Fire, and Skip Scarborough.
Recently he has produced three CDs, Speak the Word, Prayer for my Ancestors and Mystic Journey. Azar is currently scheduled to play at the Iridum Jazz Club in NYC and regularly plays mostly on the east coast. His web site, http://www.azarlawrence.com/, has sample tracks under the music tab.
